Description
A Closed Circuit Cooling Tower is a highly efficient heat rejection system that combines the advantages of a cooling tower and a heat exchanger into a single unit. Unlike open circuit towers, the process fluid in a closed circuit system never comes into direct contact with air, as it circulates through a sealed coil or tube bundle. This prevents contamination, scaling, and corrosion of the process fluid, making it ideal for sensitive applications such as chemical processing, HVAC systems, food processing, and power plants. In operation, hot process water flows through the coils while water from the cooling tower is sprayed over the coil surface. Air is drawn across the coil either naturally or via induced/forced draft fans, and a portion of the sprayed water evaporates, removing heat from the coils and cooling the process fluid inside. Constructed from corrosion-resistant materials such as FRP or stainless steel, closed circuit cooling towers offer energy-efficient performance, reduced water consumption, minimal maintenance, and reliable thermal control, making them a preferred choice for industries where fluid cleanliness and system longevity are critical.
